Maintaining structural safety for the public is one of most utmost importance to avoid catastrophic events involving human casualty. For this reason, vast amount research being conducted around globe create an efficient system detect structure damage. In study, a local damage detection method known as electromechanical impedance improved with new concept introduced in study. The idea allows composite structures at reduced cost. Since requires permanently attach piezoelectric (PZT) transducer onto target structure, moving device was made which creates temporarily contact investigate possibility replacing hundreds PZT transducers into single device. experiment involves using two different glass fiber epoxy plates thicknesses evaluate performance roller findings from experiments show detecting plate proposed idea.
